The $2.2 trillion stimulus bill known as the Corona
virus Aid, Relief. Economic Security Act (CARES Act)
devotes $290 billion for direct payments to Households
which will arrive in the form of $1,200 payments to
individuals.

Economic Impact Payments will be distributed to most
people by this week, the IRS said. Approximately 80
million Americans will get their payments
--> this week,
according to the Treasury Department.

Though 80 million Americans are expected to get their
payments this week, others will be getting their checks
later in the month and even further into the year.

**That money can’t come soon enough for the nearly 17
million people who are out of work, and others worried
about bills and rent due to the coronavirus pandemic.

• In early May, the IRS will start mailing paper checks
to households, at a rate of 5 million per week. The
paper checks will first go to the households with the
lowest adjusted gross incomes, and continue upwards.

--->Trump wants his name on millions of stimulus checks,
even if it delays them. The president is not an authorized signer
for IRS disbursements, so his name will appear on the memo
line. The code in the IRS’s computers must be tweaked and
subsequently tested. :)
^^Many people receiving paper checks will have to wait longer
because the federal government is producing and distributing
them in batches.

**It could take up to 20 weeks to mail out all those
checks, according to the House Ways and Means’
timetable.

There’s growing concern among many Americans —
especially those who are
most in need of the checks
and already have bills piling up — that
debt collectors
will garnish or swipe their checks before they can put
the money toward rent, or utility and food bills.
>> Debt collectors are going after millions of stimulus
checks . Millions of Americans have court judgments
against them,’ says Lauren Saunders, an associate
director at the National Consumer Law Center.

New U.S. data is expected to show millions more filing
unemployment claims.

Uber and Lyft drivers claimed unemployment benefits in
California. But the process could take months because
the companies refused to submit income data needed to
verify eligibility.

millions of college students and young adults won’t
get a stimulus check. Any person age 17 to 24 who was
claimed as a dependent won’t be eligible for the $1,200
payment or the $500 child bonus.
Some dependents ages 17 to 24 hold lower-paying, entry-
level jobs, have less-secure housing arrangements, and
struggle with student loan debt.
Those who became financially independent in 2020,
however, will eventually receive the stimulus money
they’re owed in ---> 2021 if they file their 2020 tax
return,

Washington (CNN)There
are
as many as 10 million
low-income, childless
adults in the United
States who are eligible
for the federal
government's stimulus
payment program, but
are at risk of missing out
on the money, according
to tax experts.

That's because they
aren't required to file
tax returns, making it
harder for the IRS to
verify their income -- or
even to know who they
are or where to find
them.
"These folks are very
disconnected from the
tax system. It's going to be
very hard to get their
payments out," said Elaine
Maag, a research
associate in the
